Cheers, 2107!
2017... it was one for the books! Truly, I think this has been my favorite year yet. It was our first full year with Baby Rae. First tooth, first step, first time in the nursery at church, first birthday, first international trip, first time sleeping through the night. So many wonderful experiences; so many blessings!
Of course it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. She also had her first boo boo, first fever, first stuffy nose, lots and lots of teething.
It was also our first full year without mom. That was hard.
When New Year's comes it seems the trend is always negative towards the ending year and expectations that the new year will be better, but a change in date can't change your circumstances. No matter what the year, the world's still fallen. Blindly hoping that it will all just get better in the New Year is asking to be disappointed. Instead, I propose an attitude of gratefulness to the year past and a resolution to chose to focus on the good parts of life in the year to come.
Maybe your year wasn't filled with as much joy as mine; maybe it was mostly bad. We all have those years. September 2014 - June 2016 were the toughest times of my life. I get it, I really do. We can't change our circumstances, but we can chose how we respond to them.
So cheers is to a wonderful, joyful, blissful 2017. 2018, I'm ready for you.
