To Mom
Currently, I am serving with the middle school kids at church. Before Easter we did a series on Jesus' last words. One Sunday focused on the following text:
Today's post is dedicated to the strongest, most beautiful woman I know: my mom.
Mom, I value you. You are a Godly woman, a role model whom I admire. I would not be where I am today without your love and guidance.
Words will never be enough.
Happy Mother's Day! I love you!

"Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, 'Woman, here is your son,' and to the disciple, 'Here is your mother.' From that time on, this disciple took her into his home."
John 19:25-27
John 19:25-27
This is an incredible picture of grace to me. In biblical times women did not fend for themselves. If a woman's husband had passed she was to be taken care of by her son. Joseph had passed, and now her son Jesus is dying. From the cross, with the weight of all creation's sins on his shoulders, he thinks not of himself but of his mother. Despite the unthinkable pain he is enduring he wants to make sure his mother is taken care of when he is gone, so he instructs his disciple to act as a son for her - to take care of her.
Jesus' grace is so amazing to me. The love he gave to each and every one of us by suffering a cruel, miserable death to cover our sins - I can never thank him enough. He was a perfect sacrifice; the only sacrifice great enough to cover our debts. And this perfect man, this perfect God, valued his mom.
